Social Responsibility
With the goal to adopt the principles of the sustainable development and implement the best international practises in this area, the Slovnaft Group started building a management system for sustainable development. The responsibility for this agenda was delegated to the existing organisation HSE (Health, safety, environment), which in the first half of 2008 started to perform under a new name SD&HSE (Sustainable development, health, safety, environment). The Group expects that this change will allow for the more efficient fulfilment of tasks in monitoring and implementation of best practises in the sustainable development area, long-term strategic planning, implementation of new processes, projects and programmes, as well as internal and external reporting in the area of sustainable development. Environmental issuesSLOVNAFT, a.s. and Slovnaft Petrochemicals, s.r.o. hold ISO certificates for Quality Management, Environmental Management, and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. In accordance with these standards, both companies have implemented processes for the identification and evaluation of environmental aspects and security risks, as well as their management. The companies reconfirmed the validity of these certificates during the 2008 surveillance audit.More Social IssuesPersonnel strategy clearly declared the decisive importance of employees to achieve the strategic objectives of the Group of Slovnaft.More QualityThe constant improvement of the quality of provided services and products, and encouraging employees to continually improve performed activities and processes are among the main priorities and goals of Slovnaft.More Research and DevelopmentIn compliance with the long-term Company strategy reflecting sustainable development principles as an integral part, Slovnaft flexibly reacts to growing demand for bio fuels on foreign markets. In 2008, the Company increased its motor diesel production with FAME content and started the production of motor gasoline containing biocomponent ETBE as well as pure bioethanol. Additional research projects were oriented on the use of glycerol – a waste product of FAME production and for the use of renewable energy resources in Slovnaft conditions.More |
